However, in terms of quantity, the number of small processing establishments still accounts for nearly 70% of establishments (314 establishments).


Currently, there are about 20 large companies investing in deep-processing products such as roasted salt, fried butter, condiments, mixed cashew, cashew ... with a capacity of 15.4 thousand tons products / year, the rest are small establishments, supplying the domestic market about 20,000 tons of products per year. In addition, there are 26 seed oil processing plants with a capacity of 80,000 tons of products per year and 5 oil seed processing facilities with a capacity of 6,000 tons of products per year.


According to the Department of Crop Production, although Vietnam is the largest exporter of cashew nut, Vietnam has only been involved in processing, equivalent to 18% of the value chain. The biggest profit is still in the process of processing roasted salt and distribution with total value of nearly 60%. Cashew sector meets many challenges when participating in big markets such as USA, Europe and Japan.


Representatives of enterprises attended the conference, there are too many small cashew processing establishments operating under the strength of each other, lack of linkage. Many enterprises do not have processing facilities, only to collect for export, so the quality of export products are uneven, low and in a negligible amount but competitive in price, damaging the industry say general.

Urgent need to restructure

Binh Phuoc has more than 200 enterprises and more than 400 cashew processing establishments, but only 31 large enterprises with a total capacity of 82,000 tons per year.
